我第一次去921堰塞湖是在2016年3月。湖邊有許多家庭露營。 年長的夫婦一整天都坐在湖邊釣魚。 孩子穿戴手臂游泳圈在湖岸線漂浮游泳。 我和我的朋友們漂著內胎度過了美好的一天。 那時我宣稱它是“我在台灣最喜歡的地方！”
然後在六月時禁止游泳和釣魚。 警方引用了幾年前發生的意外作為原因。
自從設禁令之後，我已經三次回去了。 外面的涼亭提供了一個可靠的地方，可以擺脫雨水，所以我覺得可以安全地睡在裡面。公園已不如往昔不再生氣蓬勃，裡面的道路和建築物呈現年久失修的狀態。 從那以後，每次去時我都沒遇過有別人在那裏活動。 曾經這裡是人們享受戶外活動的熱鬧時光，現在已成為一個雜草叢生的空城。
The first time I went to the 921 lakes was in March of 2016. There were many families there camping by the lakeside. Older couples spending the whole day sitting on the side of the lake fishing. Kids with arm floats swimming by the shoreline. My friends and I went out in inner tubes and had a fantastic day. At the time I declared it “My new favorite place in Taiwan!”
Then swimming and fishing was banned a in June. The police cited an incident that happened a few years earlier as the reason.
Since the ban I’ve gone back three times. The pavilion outside provides a reliable place to get out of the rain, so I feel safe sleeping under it. The park is not the same anymore though. The roads and buildings inside the park are falling to disrepair. And I’ve never seen another person there since. What once was bustling with people enjoying some much deserved time outdoors is now a ghosttown.
